Cricket format
Overs and innings vary; a short match explanation does not automatically apply to a Test.
Tests, one day cricket and T20 create different time structures. Interruptions, weather and incomplete matches can affect how a result is understood. Do not apply one format's conditions to every match.
Football distinguishes regulation time from additional periods. A result description needs to specify which period it covers. Misreading the time beside a score can give a mistaken view of the match state.
Live score information can be delayed. A broadcast, app and information page may not show the same moment simultaneously. Check the final state before treating a changing feed as a confirmed result.
Check teams, competition and match date together.
Identify the innings, half or regulation period being described.
Distinguish an ongoing score from a completed result.
Consider these situations separately before deciding how to proceed.

A half time score and a full time score answer different questions.
Do not infer treatment of a cancelled or delayed match without the applicable conditions.

The same team name may appear in several competitions. Senior, youth and women's teams need to be distinguished. The full competition name is therefore useful information.
Emotional support for a team can influence decisions. Set viewing time and personal boundaries in advance to reduce rushed reactions after a disappointing result.
